Rethinking solar energy systems for flat roofs

Even though PV-technology have has had huge improvements for several decades the fundamental approach to solar energy systems has not changed much.

Whereas we have seen substantial improvements in performance, lifespan, and reduction in cost of PV modules, the mounting structure or approach to installation is more or less the same, even though all processes have been continuously optimized and streamlined through the last decades.

The introduction and availability to cost effective bifacial PV modules has given us the opportunity to rethink our approach to solar energy systems completely.

Over Easy Solar has challenged the existing approach by combining vertically mounted PV-panels and the mounting structure into a single unit. This gives several benefits compared to the conventional east west setup. Replace peak production at the middle of the day, with a system that has two production peaks through the day. Get your primary energy production in the morning and evening when you need it the most.

VPV (Vertical PV) in winter conditions, Oslo Norway

VPV (Vertical PV) in winter conditions, Oslo Norway Many of our customers ask how vertical solar panels work during the wintertime. Over the last two weeks, we’ve had some nice winter weather in Oslo that beautifully demonstrates how this works. From the data we share in the graph here, we can make some interesting observations:1-5…
